Vehicles & Trails

What We Ride: ATV / UTV

Members of TSATV ride a variety of different machines which predominately include the traditional ATV. However, we are aware of the fast growing side-by-side (SxS / UTV) market and welcome riders who own these machines. We also welcome members who ride with two wheels instead of four whether they ride trail, trial, dirt, adventure, or motocross motorcycles.

Side-by-Sides Welcome

Our goal is to provide a safe and educational environment with a family atmosphere for off-road enthusiasts. With the recent and rapidly growing popularity of side-by-sides, we welcome riders who prefer these machines. In some cases, side-by-sides provide a more family-friendly way to enjoy the beautiful trails Montana has to offer.

Examples of machines that members ride include:

  • Polaris RZR (trail, XP, and S models)
  • Can-Am Commander
  • Varieties of CFMOTO models including the ZFORCE and C6

We welcome potential members who may own:

  • Kawasaki Teryx
  • Arctic Cat Wildcat, Wildcat Trail or Trail XT, or Prowler
  • Yamaha Rhino or Viking
  • John Deere Gator or RSX
  • Any of the Polaris Ranger models
  • Honda Pioneer or Big Red
  • Or any other utility vehicle

Where We Ride

TSATV rides in a wide variety of areas and events sure to entertain a variety of rider levels and interests which include:

  • National Forests of the Custer, Lewis and Clark,Gallatin, and Helena
  • Montana’s public lands including BLM
  • Annually MTVRA State Ride (traditionally held in Boulder, Montana)
  • CTVA Annual Fun Run (Capital Trail Vehicle Association based out of Helena)
  • Labor Day Ride out of Basin and Boulder Montana
  • Wyoming including the Wild Horse Range and Big Horn Mountains, and other areas near Lovell

Joining a Ride

Before going on a club-sanctioned ride, we indicate the type and difficulty of ride and what machine restrictions may apply. For example, some of the Forest Service lands may have restricted vehicle widths or exclusions on types of machines that are allowed on the trail. The ride leader will be aware of the conditions and restrictions and will advise riders of potential issues with their machines or trail difficulties.
